Hola hola! My name is Jade. I’m a Spanish teacher and Blogger behind La Secundaria. My love of language and culture began when my mama went back to college and had a Spanish class. As a result, I was exposed to the Spanish language in middle school. At that point, I knew I wanted to study Spanish when I got the chance. I got that chance and now I love everything Spanish language and culture.
I love to write and I love to connect with other Spanish teachers. Starting this blog gave me an outlet to be able to share my experiences and resources with other language teachers. I love creating resources to engage my students. I want to help them grow to love the language and culture as much as I do.
I’ve taught Spanish 1 – Spanish IB Year 1 and I love them all. For the past few years, I’ve only taught Spanish 1 and I’ve been very focused on setting them up with a great foundation and build confidence to continue language studies. I work to build student confidence by using comprehensible input with high frequency verbs, tons of cognates, stories, special person interviews, cultural reading passages, games and activities.
