World Language FVR Library

Distance learning has create many obstacles for teachers and interrupted many of those routines that we and students cling to on a day to day basis. There are many ways to find resources for FVR.

Free voluntary reading is such an exceptional way to build student vocabulary and help students fall in love with reading. I want students to still be able to have that piece of their routine from face to face learning. That’s why I want to share how to find resources for FVR.

Check out these free and paid resources for FVR to keep your students reading during distance learning.

1. Free Resources

1. Revista Literal by Martina Bex
2. Noticias by Maris Hawkins
3. Non-Fiction Library by Profe Elliott
4. Amazon Wish List – Start a wishlist and share it with parents, family and friends. Make it public.

2. Paid Resources

1. Fluency Matters

Fluency Matters offers so many amazing titles, including my Sueño hecho realidad reader. There are titles in Spanish, French, German, and a few in Japanese, Latin, and Russian.

You can also find E-books and E-courses for many titles now that are perfect for distance learning.

2. Mary Glasgow – Scholastic Classroom Magazines

Level 1 – Qué tal/Allons-y !

Level 2 – Ahora/Bonjour

Level 3 – El Sol/Ça Va ?

3. Pasaportes Culturales

I created these reading passages as a way to incorporate more culture and reading into my classes. The first set of Pasaportes Culturales were for Spanish-speaking countries. I’ve branched out to more topics. Check out the bundles below.

3. Grants

There are so many grants available for building classroom libraries. All you have to do is search and apply. I started my library with a $500 grant from an organization in the school. Here are a few grants below.

Be sure to check your state for grants to build reading libraries too.
