Right after my Spanish cognates unit, the Spanish high frequency verb unit is the unit that follows in Spanish 1. For many CI classrooms, it may be the first unit. I love using Boom Cards with students! They are a great tool to get students engaged in interactive activities.
So, I decided to create an all encompassing activity with boom cards to fit perfectly into my Spanish high frequency verb unit. Throughout these Boom Card activities, students will exposed to a variety of cognates and new vocabulary.
Navigation Page
The navigation page is going to be one of the most used page in this Boom Card set. Every card is linked back to this page. Students can click each section and decide which questions they’d like to work through first.
Vocabulario importante
This for sure is a great tool for students. There is a Vocabulario importante button on each page to add additional support while students work through all the cards. On the vocabulario importante page, students can also listen to the audio to hear what each word sounds like in Spanish.
Escucha
Students will listen to the vocabulary on audio files to identify the correct images. The audio files from the Vocabulario importante section with help students feel more confident during this listen section. Students drag and drop the images they hear to the correct boxes.
Empareja
This section will be students first exposure to complete sentences with es and other Super 7 Verbs. Students will match the images to the complete sentences. For example, Es una jirafa.
Escribe/Traduce
Students will have two types of questions in this activity. They will write simple sentences in Spanish using the cognates or new vocabulary. They will also translate simple sentences from Spanish to English.
Preguntas Personales
This activity is drag and drop activity. Students will see personal questions questions formed with Spanish high frequency verbs. Each question will have at least two choices for students.
Cuento
This section will be the most challenging for students because they will read short passages in Spanish and answer comprehension questions. This will be great to test student comprehension. By the introduction of the last verb in the Super 7, each verb is included in the short stories.
