review game for spanish class

Rondas is going to be a hit in your classroom! Students love a little bit of competition and this game definitely provides that. Students are going to love this two player digital game. I love when students are having so much fun that they don’t realize how much they’re learning or how engaged they are in the lesson. It’s a great review game for Spanish class.

What is Rondas?

Rondas is a two player digital game in Google Sheets! It can be used for vocabulary practice, reading comprehension, review, and comprehension questions for stories.

What is needed to play?

This game is completely digital. Students will need access to the internet and access to the Rondas game file!

How is Rondas played?

Two students will have access to a Rondas game file. The object of the game is to be the first to finish and to finish with the most rounds. The person with the most rounds correctly at the end of the game wins.

The first question of the game will already be present. Each of the following questions in the game is triggered by a correct answer from either Estudiante A or Estudiante B.

When a player answers answers a question correctly, the other player will not be able to enter the answer. Only one player can win the round. Once the correct answer has been entered, an error message will pop up for the other player.

How do I assign the game?

This game can easily be assigned in your learning management system like Microsoft Teams, Schoology, or Google Classrooms.

You only want two students to access a specific game file. More than two students in a two player game….chaos! Each game has a partner list in Google Slides that will help you assign students to a Rondas game document or tab. You can easily project this game list to the class to make the transition time to game play run more smoothly.

Copy Options – You can duplicate the tabs in the one Google Sheets Game OR you can make a copy of the Google Sheets file. You can decide which option will be best for your students.

When assigning, follow the steps below:

  1. Create a COPY of the Rondas game.
  2. Rename the file or tabs so that students know exactly which game to enter. (1_Rondas_SpanishCognates_10QuestionGame) Do you have 30 students? You’ll need 15 copies of the game for your paired students.
  3. Share the game with your class. Make sure all your students have access and editing privileges to the documents.
  4. Assign each pair of student to a file or tab. For example, “Alexa and Donnie, you are playing in document/tab 1.”

**Make sure you always keep the original file just in case a student accidentally gets creative and makes changes to the file. 🥴

What other ways can I use Rondas in the classroom?

  • Mid-lesson Check
  • Review
  • Stations
  • Fast Finishers
