Have you use would you rather activities in your World Language class? I love this because it’s a great way to build relationships with students. Get more use out of these type of activities by incorporating them into more parts of your lessons. Check out these 5 ways to use would you rather with your students.
1. Whole Class
Display the presentation with the voting option. Ask the class questions using the images to make connections. Great for the start of class as a bell ringer or time filler at the end of a class.
2 Corners
Have students move to a designated corner to vote for that option.
2. Small Groups
Print multiple sets of the ¿Qué prefieres? Cards. Have one student be in charge of asking the questions or have students take turns asking the questions they want from their set. Start a timer and let students chat.
3. Gallery Walk
Post 15-20 questions around the room. Have students walk the rooms in pairs discussing each question. You can set a quick timer for about 2-5 minutes depending on the level or your students. Provide students will support to expand beyond yes or no answers.
Possible expansion vocabulary
- sí, porque…/no, porque…
- porque me gusta/no me gusta
- un poco
- mucho
- tampoco
4. Stations
Use these cards are a speaking station for students. Students will be supported with images on each card and can practice expressing why they would choose one option over the other.
5. Individual Student Response
Assign students a Google Slides format of the presentation. Have them answer a # of questions and submit. You can also have students to write out their responses to the prompt and turn them in as a exit slip or writing activity.
