February is a big month for Valentine’s Day and Black History Month! I loved to incorporate both into my lesson plans, especially Black History Month. I’m sharing 5 February activities for Spanish class that your students will love.
February Activities for Spanish Class
February National Day Calendar Talk
I love calendar talk so much! Prior to teaching for comprehensible input, I had entire lessons for date, numbers, emotions and weather. Calendar talk definitely changed the way I approached teaching that information.
On a daily basis, calendar talk allows for repetition and constant input in the target language. The February calendar talk takes it a step further because students are introduced to a national day for each day of the month. Then, they get to chat in the target language with personal questions.
Bonus: At the end of the month have an informal summative assessment with a Find Someone Who scavenger hunt.
Black History Month Calendar Talk
Almost the same as the February calendar talk but different because every day, students are introduced to a new person or invention every day of the month.
Valentine’s Day Color By Number
I don’t know a student that doesn’t look for the opportunity to do a more relaxed activity. The Valentine’s Day color by number activity is a perfect way to keep student in the target language while celebrating the holiday.

Valentines Day Running Dictation
Move! Get your students moving with this fun activity. Running dictation is an AMAZING activity and students love it.
The sentences in this running dictation are super comprehensible and include vocabulary tailored to Valentine’s Day. Differentiate from your students with one of the five activity forms.
